If you’re an iPhone user, then buckle up your seatbelt because things are going to get messy as iPhone 14 has arrived at our doorstep.

Are you using iPhone 13 and thinking there can’t be any major upgrade in iPhone 14 that you have to have right now?

Well, you may give that another thought. Whenever a new version of the iPhone comes to the market, it comes with hype. It doesn’t matter whether you’re an apple fan or not; you’ll definitely be curious about what new specs are coming with the iPhone package this time.

Till now, 4 variations of the iPhone 14 have been launched.

  1. iPhone 14
  2. iPhone 14 Plus
  3. iPhone 14 Pro (6.1-inch display)
  4. iPhone 14 Pro Max (6.7-inch display)

iPhone 14 Pro

If you receive iPhone 14 Pro and start unboxing it, you’ll realize that the unboxing experience is something similar to iPhone 13, just the design on top is different.

So in the box, what will you get?

You will get the phone, of course, then we have type c2 lighting cable and some documents that no one ever reads. I just don’t get why these documents are there in the first place. Has anyone ever read them? I don’t think so.

So, first things first, let’s talk about colors. iPhone 14 comes with 4 different colors to choose from. You can have silver, gold, space black, and deep purple.

The storage variants of iPhone are 128GB, 256GB, 512GB and 1TB. There’s no 64GB available in this iPhone. This is also like the previous iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max setup.

If you want to compare the body shape of iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro, then I gotta say 14 Pro is slightly thicker and bigger than 13 Pro. You won’t notice any significant difference between these two when you see them from the back. One thing to add is, that the camera module in iPhone 14 Pro is slightly bigger than 13 Pro. Does it look good? I think not.

The sounds are pretty much the same. You won’t spot much difference in that.

Let’s talk about some things that are new in the iPhone 14.

Let’s have some drum rolls in the background, shall we? 3…2…1…

The very 1st one is Dynamic Island. No, it’s not an island at sea. No, you don’t have to go to an island for this feature. Basically, the dynamic island is the top black portion which is a capsule-size cutout, and within that, you will get the selfie camera. The capsule-like black portion and the selfie camera are connected so well that you will hardly notice the camera. The pixels are black within.

But one thing I’d like to mention here is that if you take your iPhone under sunlight, then you can easily spot the selfie camera inside the dynamic island. But hey, that’s really not a big deal, right?

When you touch and use the dynamic island, you’ll be amazed to see the animations. They are so mind-boggling. Another amazing feature of the dynamic island is it will show live actions of almost all applications. How cool is that?

Suppose you want to set a timer for something. When you start the timer, it will show in the dynamic island, and when you click that, it will give you full access to the timer.

There are 2 ways to interact with dynamic island.

  1. You can just click the dynamic island, and it will show you the full application.
  2. You can press and hold the dynamic island, and it will pop up and get bigger and give you couple more options to interact with your app.

You can multitask with dynamic island. You can switch from one app to another with dynamic island easily. It will give you a very seamless experience.

The camera resolution on iPhone 14 is now as follows

Main camera – 48 MP Quad Pixel

Telephoto – 12 MP

Ultra-Wide – 12 MP

Front Camera – 12 MP

In the action mode, you can record up to 2.8k videos. While you’re recording any activity that requires a lot of camera movement, you’ll notice that iPhone will stabilize the video and improve the quality a lot. That is something to die for, right?

iPhone still doesn’t provide 8k video resolution, but then again, that’s not a big deal, right?

Let’s talk about the lenses now, shall we? If we look at the back, we can see there are 3 lenses, but in reality, iPhone will give you 4 lens delivery. How? Let’s dive into that.

0.5x – Ultra-wide camera

1x – Main Camera

2x – Main Camera

3x – Telephoto

2x is the main camera, but it will crop in the middle and take the photo. And if you want to zoom, then you can do that up to 15x.

SOS VIA Satellite

This feature is great, but before spilling what it is, let me tell you, it’s not for everyone. Currently, it’s only for USA and Canada. They can use this feature for 2 years. Then they have to pay for it. What this basically does is if you ever get stranded in the middle of nowhere where you’re not getting any network, you can use this feature to send an emergency notification via a satellite that you’re in trouble.

Keep note that the sky has to be clear for that. You can get help; people can rescue you thanks to this feature. I think this feature will be useful for people who travel a lot, digital nomads, people who live in a van for months, etc.

Crash Detection

iPhone 14 now has crash detection. The feature says it all. I don’t think it needs any more introduction. Basically, if you face any accident, for example, a car crash, then iPhone 14 will detect the crash and send an SOS to the emergency helpline so that you can have a proper medic in time. iPhone 14 has an advanced gyro, which will help you with crash detection.

Always on Display

So, better late than never, Apple has introduced “Always on Display” in their iPhone 14. You can now have your phone always on display, and when locked, it will showcase the background color, but it will deem the color. They have used LTPO technology, which basically stands for Low-Temperature Polycrystalline Oxide. This way, the refresh rate will drop to 1hz, which will save your battery consumption.

But as you’re having a colorful always on display, it will eat some of your battery as well.

e-Sim

USA iPhone has e-sim now. There’s not even a sim slot in the USA iPhone 14 variant. So, unless you want to use e-sim right now, you can avoid the USA variant.

iPhone 14 now has a Bionic A16 chipset, which is 4 nanometers.

iPhone 14 now has peak brightness, 2000 nits. You can go outside and use the phone under scorching sunlight and won’t feel the need for display brightness because there is ample brightness in it.

So that’s pretty much it. It has a 120hz refresh rate. The charging is faster than before. And yeah, I don’t think I’ve missed anything. If I did, I’d sure add that in the update.

So, what are you using right now? iPhone 13? Are you planning to upgrade to iPhone 14? Let me know in the comments below.
